|
Born in 19** Mike joined
the Royal Air Force in 19**. This proved opportune for not only did he
see lots of the world, Kenya, Rhodesia, Malte, Scotland, etc., etc., but
it got him to Aden where he was introduced to the Aden Forces
Broadcasting Association, A.F.B.A., a radio station run by service
personel in their spare time.
There Mike, as well as
becoming the staion programme manager, was soon presenting the saturday
Teen Show, Juke Box Jury and Saturday Review, a light-hearted, satirical
look at the world. His partner on that show, Senior Air Craftman
Burnett, P. Yes Paul started there as well.
On his return to Blighty
Mike was discharged and went for a job on Radio City. He lasted 2 weeks
before being fired. On hearing that some Radio 270 jocks had been fired
for "insubordination" he rang up and within a week was ensconsed on the
Breakfast Show and the afternoon prime time show, alternating with Paul
B. Mikey Mo was born!
After the demise of the
pirates Mike landed a job in the largest disco in Berlin, The Big Eden
on the Ku'dam. After 6 months there he moved to Amsterdam and did the
clubs there. And Amsterdam is where he remains until this day. There, in
spite of the offer of the 2nd dj spot on Radio North Sea, Mike moved
into computing, a trade he did professionally until retiring in 1998.
Since then he has appeared briefly on the Internet Radio Caroline.
To make his life more
interesting Mike has appeared in the two top Dutch soaps, several
mini-series and movies. He used to sing with a (real) Rock'n'Roll band
and was Chairman of the local Old Time Music Hall.
Having radio fun yet again,
Mike can be heard every Saturday at 19:00 repeated the following Friday
at 13:00.
